bodywork during a pandemic

Were you as excited as I was when you heard that the Ohio Medical Board and Governor DeWine opened the massage therapy sector this week?  While abiding by the long list of mandatory guidelines and the equally long list of recommended best practices to keep clients and myself protected as I reopen, I thought it might be helpful to share what I'm doing to keep us all safe and well.
The integrative healing space that I share at Avon Lake Yoga sees other clients daily.  These practices will be adhered to in the best interest of everyone that comes through our doors.

TREATMENT ROOM CONDITIONS

  • After much investigation, I've decided that I will be using Benefect Decon 30 - a botanical disinfectant that is on the EPA List N (registration number  84683-3) - in the form of spray and wipes.
  • I have a H13 HEPA air purifier in my treatment room that will be running during office hours.
  • Clients will be provided a fabric lined tote for their belongings.  After each appointment, the lining will be changed.
  • I have employed a laundry service for towels, table coverings, and tote linings.
  • A hand sanitizer pump will be provided in the hallway and in the treatment room for clients and myself.

SCHEDULING

  • Scheduling will continue to be done online and all appointments will be prepaid to reduce unnecessary exposure during transactions.  If you are interested in purchasing a package of visits, please contact me to make those arrangements.
  • Each client will be asked to wait in their car until their appointment time.  I will meet the client outside the front door and will assess temperature with a touchless forehead thermometer.   A client with a temperature of over 99.5* will be asked to reschedule.
  • Clients will be asked to wear a mask while in the building and for a portion of massage therapy.  Reusable fabric masks will be provided if necessary.
  • To care for our at-risk population, I am reserving early morning appointments for those who are immune-compromised and/or over the age of 65.
  • In the event of illness or fever, cancellation fees will be waived - client will be asked to reschedule after 21 days.
  • In the event that a client is diagnosed with Covid-19, I ask to be notified as soon as possible, as I will need to inform other clients.

I will be opening my schedule to clients on July 06, 2020.  To start, I will be available 2 days a week and will be limiting to 3 clients per day.  August availability is yet to be determined, but I'm expecting to expand the schedule further.
While I'm optimistic about our reopening, I believe it's necessary to be mindful and cautious.  Continue to take good care of yourself, check in on others, devote yourself to immune health, and keep moving forward!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!  xoxo
